Cliff Whiting's Te Tiriti o Waitangi Artwork 

The circular drawing featured on the header of the Waitangi Tribunal's homepage is by the late Dr Cliff Whiting ONZ (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui). In 1987 the Tribunal commissioned Whiting’s Te Tiriti o Waitangi artwork, a portion of which first featured on the cover of the Tribunal's 1987 Orakei Report. It has since featured on many Tribunal reports.

Noted on the inside cover of the Orakei report is the inscription:

Original over design by Cliff Whiting, invoking the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi and the consequent development of Maori-Pakeha history interwoven in Aotearoa in a pattern not yet completely known, still unfolding.
